I’m Essie and was brought into animal control as a stray. I didn’t like being out on my own, so once I got back into a home and felt safe you could often find me resting at the feet of my foster daddy; I wanted to be sure I was always close and not finding myself outside again. I’m usually a quiet and friendly girl (although until I acclimate to new friends and environments I may be a bit guarded and hissy). But, when I want attention or am feeling overlooked I’ll certainly let you know; if you’re trying to do chores I’ll try to distract you. Cleaning my litterbox? I’ll head butt you to get your attention. Walking away from me? I’ll follow-up around and try to grab your leg to get you to stop and pay me some attention. Quiet and calm only goes so far and you shouldn’t plan to ignore Essie when she’s wanting some love and attention. She likes gentle head petting but the best is an under ear scratch – and don’t be gentle there; I like a good hard scratching behind my ears and don’t stop until I tell you.
