Are you interested in cuddling cats? That is awesome, but working at The Cafe Meow may not be the job for you. If cat cuddles is what interests you, you may want to become a regular instead! At The Cafe Meow 95% of the job is making specialty barista drinks and cleaning up after people and of course the cats. Having a love for cats and experience caring for them is important but we want everyone to apply with real expectations of the job. The cats get the majority of their cuddles from customers. Employees interactions with the cats during the day mostly revolve around their care and cleaning up after them.

Barista & Cat Caretaker

We hire baristas that love cats! All employees at The Cafe Meow work as both baristas and cat caretakers. At the cafe you are expected to be able to work both sides of the business effectively.

As an employee you will be responsible for maintaining store standards, friendly service, and safe conditions for both the customers and the cats.

Schedule:

Most of the time the schedule will not change to keep consistency. Positions are part-time and range from 10 – 35 hours a week.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must have experience caring for animals, experience volunteering at a rescue is even better!
  • Okay with exposure to cats, having no allergies to them.
  • Willingness to help cover other employee shifts.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Work comfortably with customers and answer questions about all products, services, and cats currently residing at the cafe.
  • Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house and provide customers with proper change.
  • Willingness to help out where needed when asked.
  • Remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Apply previous experience as a barista and learn new techniques.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Serve customers while having a positive attitude.
  • Be comfortable around cats and people.
  • Perform duties necessary to care for cats.
  • Confidently be able to get cats into carriers.
  • Ability to work alone and meet opening/closing requirements.

Operations Lead

We hire people with a passion for animal welfare and customer service experience. We are looking for someone with manager experience and experience volunteering at a shelter or rescue is strongly preferred. If this sounds like you please keep reading!

As a Operations Lead you will be responsible for helping complete daily tasks, training in new employees to the cafe’s high standards, ensuring the cats are healthy and happy, keeping general cafe maintenance up to standard, checking inventory, and picking up local orders as needed.

Schedule:

We try to make schedules consistent. Due to regular weekly orders there are certain days that a store manager will need to work including Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. Position is part-time and range from 23 – 38 hours a week.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience volunteering at a rescue or at minimum, past experience caring for cats with various need levels.
  • Okay with exposure to cats, with no allergies to them.
  • Willingness to help cover other employee shifts.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Consistent access to a car for picking up local orders on a weekly basis.
  • Have at least 6 months of past management experience.
  • Must have customer service experience.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house and provide customers with proper change.
  • Willingness to help out where needed.
  • Confident in delegating tasks to employees.
  • Remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Serve customers while having a positive attitude.
  • Be comfortable around cats and people.
  • Perform duties necessary to care for cats.
  • Confidently be able to get cats into carriers.
  • Ability to work alone and meet opening/closing requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the owner on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable placing orders via the phone.

Catgo Caller

Schedule:

Must be available Wednesday evenings between 5:30pm and 7pm. Catgo is essentially Bingo but since it is played at our cat cafe we call it Catgo. It is free for customers to play and is currently hosted on the first Wednesday of the month. (Pay is $20 per night.)

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must be able to speak loudly
  • Be honest
  • Have knowledge of the game Catgo (Bingo)
  • Ability to site rules and make sure players follow them
  • Good at creating a fun atmosphere
  • Must be able to commute and read off Catgo at both the Minneapolis cafe and New Hope cafe.
  • Must be punctual and reliable

Responsibilities:

  • Call Catgo games in a clear and consistent way to how Bingo is usually called.
  • Be able to host a small event and speak loud and clear for all customers to hear.
