Meet Zara, a cautious but intriguing beauty with a heart that’s just starting to trust again. She was rescued by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan who found her living outdoors and brought her to safety at a local impound. Zara’s journey has been one of patience and persistence—she spent three months in the impound due to her shy and fearful nature, waiting for someone to give her the chance she deserved.
In her foster home, Zara has slowly started to show her softer side, allowing gentle touches before retreating to her favorite hiding spots. She gets along well with other cats, finding comfort in their presence, but is still navigating the complexities of human trust. Now, at the café, Zara has a unique opportunity to blossom in a more serene, dog-free environment, where she can observe and engage at her own pace.
This lovely lady has not been around children and would thrive in a calm, patient home where her need for time and space is respected. Zara is a work in progress, but her subtle moments of bravery and curiosity hint at the loving companion she has the potential to become. Will you be the one to help Zara’s trust bloom into a beautiful bond?
Interested in adopting?
Step 1. Visit me today! A meet-and-greet is required to start the adoption journey. Use this special space to connect and ensure you’re bringing home the right cat for your family. Repeat visits are always encouraged to build a stronger connection!
Step 2. Connect with the rescue. New Leash Rescue is a volunteer foster based rescue that has been helping cats and dogs from shelters, impounds, and owner surrenders since 2018. If you are interested in adopting please request a cat adoption application by emailing newleashrescue2018@gmail.com. To help streamline communication, use the subject line: [Cat’s Name] The Cafe Meow. In the email body, include when you met the cat and why you’d like to adopt them.
Step 3. Wait for an application to be sent back to your request. Please allow at least 72 hours for a response. If you don’t hear back after that, send a follow-up email in case the original was missed. Email is the best way to get in touch and begin the adoption process.
Note: As part of the adoption process, volunteers will be checking veterinary references on past or current pets to ensure they saw received regular recommended veterinary care including vaccinations. We require proof of a negative feLV test on file for any resident cats.
If you need further assistance please stop by again and chat with our team. We are happy to help with any questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
