At The Cafe Meow 95% of the job is making specialty barista drinks and cleaning up after people and of course the cats. Having a love for cats and experience caring for them is important but we want everyone to apply with real expectations of the job. The cats get the majority of their cuddles from customers. Employees interactions with the cats during the day mostly revolve around their care and cleaning up after them.
Barista & Cat Caretaker
We hire baristas that love cats! All employees at The Cafe Meow work as both baristas and cat caretakers. At the cafe you are expected to be able to work both sides of the business effectively.
As an employee you will be responsible for maintaining store standards, friendly service, and safe conditions for both the customers and the cats.
Schedule:
Most of the time the schedule will not change to keep consistency. Positions are part-time and range from 10 – 22 hours a week. If you would like more hours please specify in your application.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must have experience caring for animals. Experience volunteering at a rescue is even better!
- Okay with exposure to cats, having no allergies to them.
- Willingness to help cover other employee shifts.
- Ability to work weekends.
- Previous customer service experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Work comfortably with customers and answer questions about all products, services, and cats currently residing at the cafe.
- Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house and provide customers with proper change.
- Willingness to help out where needed when asked.
- Remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Apply any previous experience as a barista and learn new techniques.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Serve customers while having a positive attitude.
- Be comfortable around cats and people.
- Perform duties necessary to care for cats.
- Confidently be able to get cats into carriers.
- Ability to work alone and meet opening/closing requirements.
